We are a family Shotokan karate club, established in 2010, to bring Japanese martial arts to Bristol

We practice karate as taught by the Japan Karate Association (JKA) - 'Keeper's of Karate's Highest Traditions'

We are affiliated to JKA WF England (Kawasoe Group)

We are NOT a franchise - Michael has year's of experience from top Japanese teachers and cares about learning - not money!

We teach Juniors aged 6-12 years old, Teens aged 13-17 years, and Adults 18+.

We teach in Ashton/Bedminster, Westbury Park, Redland & UWE

Chief Instructor Michael Harris, 4th dan JKA, is licensed from Japan to Instruct, Referee and Examine.

Michael is a World Karate medallist (2013) and National Kata Champion (2016)

Michael has public liability insurance and is DBS Police-checked (formerly CRB).

We have a club Executive Committee (separate to our UWE Committee):

Technical Director: Masao Kawasoe, 7th dan JKA

    Chairman: Michael Harris, 4th dan

Secretary: Andy Ballantine, 1st dan JKA

Child Protection Officer: Amanda Faramus, 8th Kyu JKA

Treasurer/Legal Officer: Phil McHenry, 1st Kyu JKA

Licence Officer : Andy Jessop, 1st Dan

We have been successful Internationally and Nationally, and look forward to helping our students develop.
