Sensei Michael made the journey to Windsor on Saturday 28th April 2018, for the two-day Japan Karate Association (JKA) Spring Camp. After a great 1st day, Michael sat a gruelling exam for 4th dan, where he had to perform technical movements (kihon), present an advanced set form of movements (kata), and fight a partner, but not for competition points (kumite). The grading panel was sensei’s Kawasoe, 7th dan (Afra-Eurasia), Takahashi, 7th dan (HQ Japan), Taylor, 6th dan (Scotland) and Hogan, 6th dan (England). Michael is delighted to announce he found out on day 2 that he had been successful! Onwards and upwards for Bristol Karate Centre!
