Classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6.30pm - Westbury Park School.
Students will learn balance, co-ordination and control. Punches, kicks and blocks are taught in a safe environment. Once basics are understood, we put it together in safe partner-work (kumite) and set forms of movement (kata). Students also learn how to diffuse situations and to be aware of their environment.
We offer Duke of Edinburgh channels, and black belts aged can qualify for coaching and referee status. We are affiliated to the NHS Change 4 Life programme, encouraging at least 1 hour of exercise a week. Michael Harris has recognised qualifications teaching adults. Coaches have coaching qualifications, and both have Karate Instructor’s Insurance with public liability up to £5m. We belong to a Governing Body for karate in England, called the English Karate Federation, who give us access to the World Karate Federation (WKF). They are Olympic-Recognised!
You will learn a structured syllabus and be awarded for achievement by club belt gradings. Specially-trained Examiners undergo a demanding exam, in front of senior instructors. Our Charity is St Barnabas House for homeless people
